Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI)

COGS & MARVEL POLICY

We believe in creating a diverse and inclusive environment, a space where everyone feels comfortable and supported to bring their authentic selves everyday. We want to foster a sense of belonging, where uniqueness and expression are celebrated, because we believe our differences make us stronger. We have 4 core objectives, developed collaboratively as an agency, and while progress continues to be made, we have outlined some measures and proof points gained along the journey.

Objective 1

LEADERSHIP COMMITMENT - ensure that DEI is championed by our senior leadership team, and that they hold each other accountable for progressive growth and learning amongst our employee community

Leadership is personally vested in our commitment, and they fully understand and support the investment and effort that’s required by the business to express the values of diversity, equity and inclusion through committed resources such as time for training, open discussion, and guest speakers. Leadership supports the creation and embodiment of DEI values throughout every aspect of the business.

Measures

  • DEI Taskforce which includes members from across all of our teams representing diverse viewpoints and backgrounds. The objective of this team is to develop and execute DEI initiatives that raise cultural awareness and celebrate diversity

  • Regularly survey team members to measure DEI and collect feedback from our team members on how to improve our DEI work

  • Commit resources towards developing and measuring DEI

Objective 2

PEOPLE - recruit, retain and advance talent that embody a diverse population, and curate inclusive and progressive spaces for employees to learn and grow.

We are committed to recruitment that represents the communities we work in. Retaining our talent through the constant evolution of best practices such as extended maternity leave, flexible working hours, work from home, transport subsidies, flattened management structures, mentorships, accessibility, training, internal advancements, and development. We also provide internship opportunities to suitable candidates expressing an interest in gaining valuable industry experience.

Measures

  • Commitment to recruit diverse talent by following best practices such as structured interview process, training around unconscious bias and targeted candidate outreach

  • Performance Review process which includes ongoing, consistent feedback between managers and employees, creating a collaborative career development plan for every employee

  • Commitment to providing an inclusive company culture that will attract and retain diverse talent

Objective 3

SUPPLIER DIVERSITY - ensure our supplier network represents a diverse cross section of our global communities

Where possible we are committed to using a diverse supplier network within all of the communities in which we work around the world. Where possible, we will engage with small to medium enterprises that are committed to fair and ethical labour practices within their communities, as well as sustainable resource management or circular economic practices.

Measures

  • A scorecard and rating system is currently being developed for implementation

Objective 4

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT & PARTNERSHIPS - engage with external bodies and organisations to positively contribute to a diverse society, whilst also supporting those within underrepresented and/or marginalised communities

We will listen and learn from our partners that are committed to ongoing work and development of DEI so that in turn we deepen our understanding.

We will learn from, and give a voice to underrepresented communities. We handpick areas we feel passionately about e.g. International Women’s Day, and lend our platform to educate and increase awareness of important issues.

We are aligned with, and support a number of local charities and enterprises by empowering and supporting local communities that contribute to national and international causes and events.
