Hail, adventurer – join us as we recount our victory on this epic quest of audience engagement. Looking for a bold new way to engage their gaming industry marketing clients, Facebook Gaming sought our support to shake their EMEA-wide audience out of their webinar fatigue, and create a user journey that would surprise and engage in equal measure. So we went 8-bit.
1up-ing interactive event design
We reimagined the entire digital event into a virtual retro journey with custom graphics and game language. Attendees got to be the heroes of their own adventure via the character creator. Things kicked off with your avatar getting “captured” and locked in a tower, requiring attendees to explore the world map filled with informational content.
Marketers from 58 countries tuned in, and more than 75% of attendees loaded every single piece of content, on a quest to free their beleaguered retro avatar.

The gamified delivery of content was a resounding winner amongst attendees, with a 109% year-on-year increase in registrations. Marketeers from 58 countries tuned in, and more than 75% of attendees loaded every single piece of content. And everyone had fun, with attendees returning to create second and third characters to experience it all again.
